Salt Lake City, Sep. 8, 2006 — Altiris CEO Greg Butterfield advises CEOs to be teachable, humble, surround themselves with the right people and have fun. Butterfield shared his advice with Utah executives at a Utah Technology Council (UTC) breakfast event in Salt Lake City this week. Speaking from his experience as CEO of Altiris, a software company with about 930 employees and more than $200 million in revenue, Butterfield told executives it is possible to build and maintain a successful business and still have fun along the way.

Butterfield spoke to executives about the problems and struggles of building a successful business and provided secrets that have worked for him:

Butterfield’s suggestions were well received by attendees. “I can’t think of anyone more results-based and driven than Greg,” said UTC President Richard R. Nelson. “He is a superb example of a successful CEO. He is a great asset to Utah and a great trustee for the Utah Technology Council.”

Butterfield is Chairman, President & CEO of Altiris, a leading provider of service-oriented management software products and services that enable organizations to manage IT assets throughout their entire lifecycles. Since joining Altiris as a small start-up in 2000, Greg has guided the company to a successful initial public offering (IPO) in May 2002. Greg is an active member in the greater Salt Lake City community and is the past chairman of the board of directors of UTC.
