Salt Lake City, UT– April 13, 2006– The Utah Technology Council (UTC) recently held its Annual Members’ Meeting at the Marriott City Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, and presented the 2006 CEO, CTO, Emerging CXO, Trustee and Legislator of the Year awards. Each award recipient was honored for his impact on building Utah’s technology community. “All of the Utah Technology Council award honorees have established themselves as innovators in the way business is conducted and policy is developed," said Richard Nelson, president and CEO of UTC. “Each of these leaders continues to drive the growth of pioneering technologies, the development of industry-driven legislation, and the overall implementation of UTC's mission to build Utah’s technology community.” The following awards were presented:
CEO of the Year- Josh James, Omniture Josh James was awarded for his outstanding leadership efforts to grow a world-renowned Utah IT company and set the standard for successful entrepreneurs to follow. James is co-founder and CEO of Omniture, a leading provider of on-demand Web analytics.
CTO of the Year- Thomas Davis, LANDesk Software Thomas Davis was recognized for his outstanding leadership as an industry CTO. As vice president of engineering at LANDesk, a creator of technologies and products for enterprise IT management, Davis oversees the development of all LANDesk products and engineering teams.
Emerging CXO of the Year- Brian Beutler, Alianza Brian Beutler was honored for his outstanding leadership efforts in a Utah start-up IT company, Alianza. The company offers Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone services to businesses throughout Mexico.
Trustee of the Year- Scott Anderson, Zions Bank Trustee of the Year recipient, Scott Anderson, was recognized for his vision and leadership efforts with the USTAR Initiative and advocacy in growing Utah’s technology industry. Anderson is president and CEO of Zions First National Bank, Utah's oldest financial institution.
Legislator of the Year- Alma Mansell, Utah Senate Al Mansell was honored as Legislator of the Year for his outstanding leadership as sponsor of the USTAR Initiative and as a long-time industry advocate. Mansell has been president of the Utah State Senate and was the 2005 president of the National Association of Realtors. The Utah Technology Council awards continue the annual tradition of honoring Utah’s technology and legislative leaders. The Utah Technology Council was formed by a merger of UITA and ULSA earlier this year.
